Position Overview

Food processing workers are responsible for working in the food production floor and loading ingredients into industrial processing equipment. They also monitor the machinery during food processing (cooking, mixing, kneading, sheeting, cutting, washing) to make sure our product quality standards are being met.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  1. Monitor food production machines and adjust the controls for devices such as mixers, kneaders, grinders, rollers, cutters, steamers, boilers, coolers, and packers.  
  2. Program kitchen & production equipment to operate according to company and recipe standards and make changes to cooking temperature and time. 
  3. React to any type of alarms or malfunctions of the equipment and operate the shut-off switch when necessary. 
  4. Load raw ingredients into the cooking machine and measure the amount needed by following company recipes.
  5. Prepare products for cooking & stage for packaging in an efficient manner. 
  6. Comprehend written instructions and recipes from the company when putting together ingredients and starting a new batch of products. 
  7. Remove the finished product from the production line and push batches to the next step of the process for packaging. 
  8. Verify that each finished item meets the quality standards of the company by observing the size, shape, thickness, texture, and luster of the product. 
  9. Sanitize all materials and machinery parts at the end of each shift and clean the workspace at the workstation by following company cleanliness standards. 
  10. Complete pre and post operational checks and relevant documentation and records related to processes/tasks assigned.
  11. Other tasks as required.

Incumbent must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 25kg.  Food processing and/or food warehouse experience an asset.   

Ability to communicate in Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin) is an asset.

Schedule:

  • 5 days / week. Monday, Wednesday – Saturday.
  • Due to seasonality, production may move to 6 days (Monday to Saturday) per week during winter months. Work week would be readjusted across 6 days or additional hours may be available.
