Asian Noodle Making, Apprentice

Position Overview

The Asian Noodle Making Apprentice is learning the trade of noodle making. This is a career grooming role, where the incumbent is being trained to become a production lead for the wheat production line. Assisting the Production Lead, the apprentice will follow recipes and quality standards when preparing and loading ingredients into industrial processing equipment. They also monitor the machinery during food processing, adjusting as required, to make sure our product quality standards are met.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  1. Prepare ingredients for noodle and wrappers production
  2. Load raw ingredients into the cooking machine and measure the amount needed by following company recipes and quality requirements.
  3. Monitor food production machines and adjust the controls for devices such as mixers, kneaders, grinders, rollers, cutters, steamers, boilers, coolers, and packers.  
  4. Program kitchen & production equipment to operate according to company and recipe standards and make changes to cooking temperature and time. 
  5. React to any type of alarms or malfunctions of the equipment and operate the shut-off switch when necessary. 
  6. Prepare products for cooking & stage for packaging in an efficient manner. 
  7. Comprehend written instructions and recipes from the company when putting together ingredients and starting a new batch of products. 
  8. Remove the finished product from the production line and push batches to the next step of the process for packaging. 
  9. Verify that each finished item meets the quality standards of the company by observing the size, shape, thickness, texture, and luster of the product. 
  10. Clean and sanitize all materials and machinery parts at the end of each shift and clean the workspace at the workstation by following company cleanliness standards. 
  11. Complete pre and post operational checks and relevant documentation and records related to processes/tasks assigned.
  12. Learn and participate in production planning and ingredient ordering
  13. Other tasks as required.

Incumbent must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time and liftup to 25kg. Bakery, pasta making or Asian Noodle making experience an asset.   Must be able to communicate verbally in Cantonese.
